PUGMARK BOOKS
After publishing several books through established publishing houses and gaining a clear understanding of the publishing process, I, Subrata Halder, decided to publish my own books to maintain complete control over editing, online distribution, and full transparency in royalty management.
In today’s digital era, with widespread access to software tools, websites, applications, and the global availability of print-on-demand services, independent publishing has become both practical and efficient. Authors are now fully capable of managing the publishing process without relying on traditional publishers.
Accordingly, I have officially registered my publication company, PUGMARK BOOKS, with the Raja Rammohun Roy National Agency for ISBN (RRRNA for ISBN)—the Government of India’s authorized body responsible for issuing International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) to publishers and authors.
This serves as both an official announcement and a statement of authenticity.

About the Author
The author is an accomplished writer who has received several prestigious awards for his short stories. An electronics engineer by profession, he spent several decades working with U.S. multinational companies in senior leadership roles. His professional journey allowed him to travel extensively across numerous countries and five continents, enriching his worldview and creative sensibilities. Deeply passionate about writing, he also expresses himself through art and painting. His stories have been adapted for stage plays by prominent theatre groups and have been booked for movies. He currently lives in Delhi, India.
His earlier publications are:
- Think Deep Before You Think Big – First publication. This book is on sales and marketing, especially for people who have parked their careers in corporates/sales and marketing.
- Odd Thoughts – A collection of several articles written in a casual mood. Some are the outcome of innovative thinking, and some are hilarious. Not a very serious effort, rather a part of learning self-publishing.
- The Monk, His Ferrari, and the Fifth Dimension – A collection of 12 stories. His most sincere effort.
Yet to come:
- Science – Laugh and Learn (this book) – a popular science book on modern-day innovation we see around us, we use every day, but the majority of people do not know in depth.
- Teachings of a Monk: For a Happy Social Life – Spiritual, love, science
- Tales for Young Minds – storybook for children
- Tales: Reflections of Society – Storybook for all ages.
