You may know some or all of these stories. However, I am sure, like me, you love to read it repeatedly. Good for self-motivation.
I am writing it in my own lucid style. In some points, the real life stories might exaggerated but still those rightly project the culture of great people and their intellect.
THE GIRL IN A RESTAURANT
A girl joined in a restaurant. She serves the food to the customers. Sometimes she sits at the cash counter also. Her colleagues found that she is shy and does her work sincerely. She timely comes and leaves the restaurant on time, unlike others. She usually commutes by walking, and may not afford a car, unlike her other colleagues who come by car or two-wheeler. She never goes to the movies or parties with others. Her colleagues understand she may not have excess money for these.
One day one of her colleagues who was walking at a distance from her; noticed that 4/5 strong men following her. He doubts that the girl can have some wrong nexus. Within a few days, the news spread among her colleagues and they informed the owner of the restaurant about it understanding the potential risk. They thought the owner should get frightened but the owner did not show any interest in it surprised them. So, one day some of his colleagues decided to follow her till the end to she where she goes or stay.
To cut a long story short, they found the same 4/5 strong man following her. At a distance of a few hundred meters, a black car was waiting for her. The girl got into the car and the four people got into a similar car and followed behind her car. However, her colleagues stopped there because the car had a sticker of President House and the US flag on it.
Later they found she was the daughter of President Barack Obama who was sincerely completing her college internship. The 4/5 men were his security guards, members of the secret agency of the president’s palace. The restaurant owner knew her identity from her application but the president requested him to keep it confidential so she could learn the skills like others.
This is called the culture of a person and family.
WHO IS YOUR FATHER, MATTERS
One day Bill Gets went to a restaurant with his friend for dinner. After dinner, the waiter placed the bill for him. He paid the bill and gave a tip of fifty dollars. The waiter was looking at each other and Bill noticed that they wanted to say something. Bill asked, what is the issue?
The waiters said, ‘Sir if you do not mind can we tell something about this tip?’
Bill Replied, ‘Sure!’.
One waiter told him, ‘Sir, last week your daughter came to this restaurant with her friends.’
Bill was surprised and responded, ‘So what? She is an adult and surely can go to the restaurant with friends!’
‘That we do not want to say’, the waiter replied. ‘What we want to say is she gave us five hundred dollar tips and you are the richest person in this planet but giving fifty dollar tip!’
Bill laughed loudly and replied, ‘You are making a simple mistake. Her father is the richest man in the world so she is habituated to giving such tips. However, my father was a simple salaried person so the value of money is different to me.’
However, Bill gave them thousand-dollar tips, 50 dollars as a tip and nine hundred fifty dollars for their guts to teach him a lesson…because Bill is also known as one of the greatest philanthropists in the world ever, who donates billions of dollars every year for mankind.
In India, it is very uncommon for filthy rich people to donate big for social causes. The exception is Jamshedji Tata who donated Rs 929,734 crore; such a big sum at that time and Shree Ajim Premji who donated Rs 9,713 crore in 2021.
BE THE CHANGE
A mother came to Gandhiji with her son. She complains that her son takes a lot of jaggery and wants Gandhiji to tell her son not to do this as people follow what Gandhiji says. Gandhiji told her to come next week. The lady came again the next week and Gandhiji told her again to come to next week. By this way few weeks passed and one day Gandhiji advised the boy not to take so much jaggery. Explained why it is bad for his health. The mother was surprised by his simple suggestion and asked, why he did not suggest the same on the very first day.
Gandhiji replied with a smile, how come I could suggest him to do so on the very first day as I also had a habit of taking excessive jagghery? It took several weeks for me to get rid of such a bad habit. It is only now I can coax and cajole him so he stops taking excessive jaggery.
It is a great story, be the change that you wish to see in the world. I feel this is more important in the present time.
BIRTH OF INDIAN SCIENCE
A Sannyasi (Monk) and a businessman were travelling on a ship from Japan to Vancouver, USA. They were sitting on a bench on the deck of the ship. The sannyasi asked the businessman, what is the purpose of his travel to America. The businessman said that he is going to bring some technology from the USA to India for his forthcoming ambitious project of establishing Industry in India. The sannyasi asked him, why not rich and wise businessmen like him in India would try to develop such knowledge in India by establishing research facilities in India. It may be that in future the entire world will look at India for technical know-how. How long we shall look for help from Western countries? Especially when India is one of the richest places blessed with abandoned intellect and natural resources.
The person later came back to India and kept close contact with the sannyasi and later donated his large piece of land in Bangalore and established a large research institute which we know as the Indian Institute of Science (IISC).
The businessman was none other than the most respected Shree Jamshedji Tata and the sannyasi was one of the world’s greatest philosophers born ever, Swami Vivekananda when he was only 30 years of age travelled across the length and breadth of India.
I wish to write a full story on their several discussions on the board. However, can not suppress to tell you one more story which is thrilling.
Following his Chicago remarkable voice at ‘The Parliament of the World’s Religion Conference’ in the year 1893, one day Vivekananda was walking down the road. No one knew him there. Some young boys started teasing him looking at his unique dress (Maharaja Ajit Sing of Khetri sponsored his Chicago visit and provided the iconic dress). One of the boys dared to come to him and ask him why he did not wear a proper dress like a gentleman. The befitting reply of Swamiji made them spellbound and still creates goosebumps when we read it. Swamiji replied, ‘It may be that in your country tailors make you gentleman but in our county, our character makes us gentleman’.
Wish to bring such remarkable facts about great people on earth in my this Blog for relaxing reading.
